If you struggle with muscle aches and pains, the Theragun Prime may be just what you're looking for. We tried it — and now can't imagine life without it.

Dealing with daily body pain doesn't have to be your reality. With the Theragun Prime by Therabody, you can experience a deep muscle treatment from the comfort of your home.

Created by Therabody Founder and Chiropractor Dr. Jason Wersland, these award-winning percussive devices have been honed and perfected over the last decade. The result? A powerful at-home tool that reaches 60% deeper into the muscle than the average massager.

Today, Therabody offers a wide range of cutting-edge devices that are designed to target tightness and tension. To find out if it really works, we tested the Theragun Prime for ourselves.

The Theragun Prime is designed for those who need regular deep treatment on aching muscles. While it's the most basic out of Therabody's range of full-size devices, it's still a reliable massager that effectively relieves tension and provides a powerful massage in minutes.

What's so good about the Theragun Prime? After testing it, we were most impressed with its powerful QX65 Motor. Depending on how much force you apply, you can go harder on stubborn spots and lighter on tender ones to achieve the relief you're after.

Additionally, because the Theragun Prime is slightly lighter than other Theragun models, it's convenient to use as needed without much effort.

At £275, the Theragun Prime is on the pricey side. That said, it's the most affordable out of Theragun's full-size range — and a worthy investment for your health and well-being.

What makes the Theragun Prime so powerful is that it operates on an impressive QX65 Motor with QuietForce Technology for effective deep muscle treatment that's 70% quieter than previous generations.

When testing this device, we immediately felt how impressively it delivers force, depth and speed for effective, immediate relief. For those interested in the science behind these devices, they're calibrated with a 16mm amplitude to reach deep into your muscles and stimulate heat and blood flow for improved muscle health and function.

When we say this device is 'basic,' we mean it provides the essentials needed to experience relief — without the extra bells and whistles of more expensive Theragun models. For example, the pricier Theragun Pro has an OLED screen with a 'Force Meter,' but we found that we didn't miss this feature on the Theragun Prime.

When using the Theragun Prime, you can choose between different speeds — depending on the amount of pressure desired. Additionally, you can manually adjust how much force you use so that it's always hitting your muscles at a comfortable depth.

Operating the Theragun Prime is simple. Once it's charged, all you have to do is hit the button on the top of the device to start it up. Then if you want to adjust the speed, you simply press the up and down arrows next to the power button.

To help you get the best results, the Theragun Prime is Bluetooth-enabled, meaning you can control your Theragun using the dedicated Therabody app. While you don't need the app to use your Theragun, it's a nice add-on if you want a more customised treatment plan that also provides real-time feedback as you work your muscles.

One of our favourite features of the Theragun Prime is its ergonomic multi-grip handle that's shaped like a triangle so that you can hold it at different angles to hit those hard-to-reach spots. No masseuse needed.

The Theragun Prime has a battery life of 120 minutes — so that's a lot of massage time between charges. In fact, since we began testing it back in January, we've only charged it three to four times. This means you won't be faced with a dead device when you suddenly find yourself needing a massage.

We're sold on the Theragun Prime because it comes with all the essential features that we could really need. But if you want a device that's even more advanced — or perhaps easier to travel with, these other options from the Theragun Generation 4 Range are worth considering.

Advertised as 'powerfully quiet,' the Theragun PRO is the most advanced (and expensive) out of the Theragun range. What makes it so pricey? The answer lies in all of the extra features you get — including a rotating massage arm (in addition to the ergonomic multi-grip), a more powerful QX150 Motor, a super-charged 300-minute battery life and an OLED Screen with a 'Force Meter.'

The Therabody Elite is a mid-range full-size massage gun that packs a serious punch. We consider it the 'middle child' of the bunch, since it has more advanced features than the Theragun Prime — but it can't quite compete with the Theragun PRO. Like the Prime, the Elite features a QX65 Motor with QuietForce Technology, ergonomic multi-grip handle and 120-minute battery life. The bonus here is that it has an OLED Screen with a 'Force Meter' — and comes in two colours.

Looking for a smaller, less pricey percussive device that's easier to tote along? The Theragun Mini is your answer. Available in four different colourways, this compact massager comes with a handy carrying case. As for features, it boasts a powerful QX35 Motor with QuietForce Technology, an impressive 150-minute battery life and three speed settings. The only downside here is that it lacks the ergonomic multi-grip handle, which may make it more difficult to reach certain parts of your body on your own.

As you may have guessed, the Theragun Prime is our go-to out of the Theragun Generation 4 Range. It's full-sized, making it easier to achieve optimal results and immediate relief. The triangular handle makes it more convenient to perform treatments on your own. And finally, for the budget-savvy, it's priced appropriately given all of the results it delivers, such as increasing blood flow, improving range of motion, decreasing inflammation — and so much more.
