"To me, it's a no-brainer."
The Boys spoilers for season 3, episode 4 follow.
The Boys turned out yet another sure-to-be-talked-about moment in its latest episode by finding a rather unique use for dildos.
In this week's episode, the show depicted Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) engaging in a fight with sex toys as weapons (as you do), and showrunner Eric Kripke has explained in an exclusive chat with Digital Spy that it was a "no-brainer".
"We knew that Kimiko needed to go on a mission to assassinate somebody, and how she'd already been wrestling with that she's being used as this violent, blunt instrument," he revealed.

"So we lay all that in, and it's all laid in very carefully. And then we say, 'OK, how do we make this crazy?' Then we said, 'What would be interesting is if we give her the most epic knife fight we can give her, and give her all the choreography of a knife fight, but it's dildos'."
Kripke explained that their prop master Davin Snip was tasked with designing all the dildos as they "wanted each one to be representative of a member of the Seven".
"He put in so much lovely time and effort, and was really a man after my own heart, designing what each of these dildos are. And they all have their own name," he said.

"I have been campaigning – like, Starlight's is the Starbrator. And I have been campaigning Amazon to sell these things," Kripke continued. "I'm like, 'You are leaving so much money on the table. These are effective and fascinating adult massage devices'.
"And yet, for some reason, I keep hearing things about obscenity laws this and whatever. But to me, it's a no-brainer."
Alongside dildo fights, The Boys has caused a lot of talk this season about a very gross penis scene in the season premiere, which involved the use of a giant phallic prop.
The Boys seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch in full on Amazon Prime Video. Season 3 premiered on June 3 with new episodes releasing weekly.
